DangerPoint has celebrated welcoming its 30,000th visitor to the centre during June with pupils from Ysgol Talhaiarn. Since opening in October 2005 over 80% of primary/junior schools from across North Wales have visited the centre.
Ysgol Llanfair Talhaiarn said, ‘We enjoyed today and learnt a lot from our visit. The children and staff from Ysgol Talhaiarn have all enjoyed learning about dangers that are around us in a very friendly and real way.
DangerPoint has continually developed the scenarios and messages delivered to ensure that visitors to the Centre are receiving the most relevant information to them. To celebrate welcoming 30,000 visitors, DangerPoint launched its new activity booklet which will be given to every pupil who attends. The activity booklet has been designed, alongside current teaching staff, to give visitors the opportunity to take the messages they have learnt at the Centre and put them in to practice at home.
Dafydd Wyn-Edwards, Conwy Road Safety Team, said “DangerPoint provides a unique learning experience for children and young people and Conwy Road Safety Section is pleased that pupils from each school in the county are given the opportunity to benefit from what the Centre provides. The range of scenarios is excellent and they demonstrate realistic situations of what children might come across on a daily basis”.
